Once upon a time a broadband circuit was slow
10th December, 2009
… local IT support checked the routers and firewalls; the connected PC was slow browsing sites and so was a laptop. The ISP was called and they found a fault on the line, the telephone company sent an engineer to site, he said the line is ok and went. The local IT support engineer changed the modem to one supplied by the ISP, same problem. The customer complained to the ISP and another engineer was sent to site, he changed the master socket and said the line was OK. The customer tested the download speed no change, the customer borrowed a known good modem from next door, still the download speed was slow, the engineer went to the exchange and talked to the exchange people, the line engineer after some effort on his part got the exchange people to try different exchange hardware…. and so the problem was fixed. Downtime 5 working days, telephone calls too numerous to mention, getting someone to take ownership of a problem priceless NO impossible YES
New Cartridge / New Printer
24th November, 2009
Crazy but sometimes a new printer costs less than a new set of cartridges for your old printer. Check out the HP Officejet 6000, comes with built in network support, just hook it up to your broadband router and anyone in the house can use it.
